A sensational signing from Rugby Union, Ellis excelled for Otago and in 20 games for the All Blacks including eight tests which netted him 11 test tries. He collected a world record six test tries against Japan in the 1995 World Cup and has since shown deadly finishing ability in league on the wing or at fullback. Quick, inventive and extremely versatile “Macca” became a rare league/union double international in 1996 and looks set to eventually make his mark in the centers.
