Another product of a New Zealand system that continues to develop outstanding young players. The Warriors can't hold on to all of them but the club's network still snares some exceptional talent - like Shontayne Hape. Just turned 18 in January, he can play wing, centre or in the second row. Like the Paul brothers, he's from the Te Atatu club and is, in fact, very close to the Paul family. Now one of the Warriors' 35 fully contracted players, he's been labelled a Tony Iro lookalike by many observers. Made the Junior Kiwis (Under 19) as a 17-year-old for last year's series against Australia. Played for the Auckland North team in the National Provincial Cup competition and also made the New Zealand Maori team's tour to Papua New Guinea.
