Unquestionably the Warriors' biggest signing - all 120kg or so of him. Officially listed at 115kg but the reality is undoubtedly something a little heavier than that. Broke into first grade football in 1996, making three interchange appearances for South Queensland. That year he also toured Fiji with the Junior Kangaroos (when fellow new Warrior Scott Pethybridge was one of his team-mates). Was used 15 times by the Crushers in 1997 but, with the club folding, he was snapped up by Parramatta for the 1998 season. Proved a big hit in the truest sense with the Eels, turning out for them 40 times in two seasons and developing into a genuine cult figure. Parramatta Stadium crowds produced a Tookey chant whenever the ball came near him. Very much seen as a bench player with 37 of his 58 NRL games coming as an interchange forward. When the Warriors found he was available and aggressively signed him, it was regarded as a real coup. Should prove quite an asset.
