 Terry Hermannson
Age: 57
D.O.B: 11 August 1967
Place of Birth: Christchurch
Former Clubs: Sydney City, South Sydney
Weight: 110 kg
Height: 181 cm
"The Rock" has packed plenty of variety into his career. Originally from Canterbury (an occasional player in Frank Endacott's Canterbury sides of the time), Hermansson went to England in 1991-92, making 22 appearances for Doncaster. He was back in Christchurch for the 1992 New Zealand season. But, in 1993, Hermansson headed to South Sydney and earned seven first grade appearances. It set him up because the next year he had a huge season, stringing together 21 appearances and demanding selection for the Kiwis' tour to Papua New Guinea (making his test debut in the second test). Hermansson's form attracted a lucrative offer from neighbouring Sydney City, from 1995-97, he amassed 66 first grade appearances for the Roosters. He failed to make the Kiwis in 1996 and the ARL v Super League war meant he had to wait until the Anzac Day test in 1998 for his next international. It turned out to be perhaps the most memorable match of his career. In the side only through Stephen Kearney being suspended and Tony Puletua injured, Hermansson topped a powerhouse display with a fabulous try in a famous 22-16 win. He returned to Souths in 1998 and then linked up with the Adelaide Rams for the 1999 season. But when that club folded the Warriors were swift to pounce and boost their front row depth. Hermansson proved invaluable, appearing in all 24 games last year (21 times in the run-on side), winning the Warriors' Clubman of the Year Award and he also picked up two more Kiwi test appearances. The hard man insists this is his last season.
