John Morris will take the reins in an interim capacity, with Jim Dymock to remain an assistant.
Morris and Dymock were initially announced as caretaker coaches when Shane Flanagan was sensationally de-registered by the NRL for dealing with the club while suspended in 2014.
Flanagan played a key role in luring Johnson to The Shire from the Warriors, but was disciplined shortly after Johnson signed with the club.
